The Rev. Dr. V. Blaine Hill began serving the First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, Virginia, in August of 2026, his home church and the place where he was ordained by the Presbytery of the Peaks in 2001. Blaine served as the Associate Pastor at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin, SC, from 2016 to 2026, having served as the Head of Staff for about a year. In Lexington, South Carolina he served as pastor of Cherokee Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina, from 2005 to 2016, where he was the organizing pastor. His first call was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Waverly, New York, from 2001 to 2005. He has served the presbytery and larger church in many areas, including planning the annual New Church Development conference and as the moderator of Trinity Presbytery. Having graduated with a B.A. from Hampden-Sydney, College ('94), he earned an M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary ('01), and D.Min. again in 2026.
He and his wife, Laura, served as Young Adult Volunteers of the Presbyterian Church (USA) for a year in 1999-2000. Before entering seminary and ministry, he worked with emotionally disturbed boys in a wilderness program and as a business phone equipment salesman.
