Hobbies/ Interests:
Photography is a big passion of mine, whether admiring a fellow artist’s work or shooting some of my own amateurly. I also love live theatre and often miss my high school days spent behind the stage and college days spent more on the stage. Stemming from my parents’ influence, I take particular notice of architecture wherever I travel—my dad is an architect—and I love to make folks feel welcome and comfortable around me—my mom is a doting host to many friends and family.
Why FPCLY?
FPCLY feels like home. Really, FPCLY is home for me. I spent the majority of my life growing up with this church family, having moved to Lynchburg when I was just eight years old and joining this church shortly after as a family. Initially, taking the part-time position as Middle School Coordinator was a way for me to test the waters. Even as a high school youth as a part of the Youth Council for Presbytery of the Peaks, I loved leading others in activities and discussions centered around faith. I did it all throughout college as well, working with the youth groups at Thornwell Home for Children. Ministry was something I felt pretty comfortable doing, but I wanted to invest a little bit more to see if it was truly my calling. The progression of my part-time positions at FPCLY were perfectly timed for me and instilled more confidence as I grew into being full-time staff person I am now for the church. I love the variety in my positon: I never do the same thing day-to-day or even with the same people, I have the opportunity to be creative, and I get to foster that family feeling among our congregation which I was (and still am) so fond of myself.
Did You Know?
The first time I ever flew on a plane was to make my way to PCUSA’s 2008 General Assembly in San Jose, California when I was 17? (Presby nerd alert!)
