Sunday Classes

THE STEWART-BOSWELL BIBLE CLASS
This class invites people of all ages to come and enjoy a morning of fellowship, reflection, and challenging Bible learning.  Bring your Bible and join in weekly presentations that are meant to stimulate our faith.  Newcomers are always VERY welcome!  This year begins with the study of Paul’s Letter to Timothy. The class meets in the Chapel, Sanctuary level, beside the Library and is taught by Dick Boswell and Herb Bennett.

THE CHRISTIAN EXPLORATIONS CLASS
World religions, marriage, what Presbyterians believe, parenting, history of the Bible, pop culture, televangelism, terrorism.  If any of these topics interest you, then this is the class for you!  Join us as we explore these and other issues through the lenses of our faith.   Our interaction, discussion, and sharing together takes on issues in units of one to six weeks. Participants or groups of participants will present topics of particular interest to them.  Join us and make sure that issues of concern to you are among those under consideration.  Our class is always lively and a stimulant to the growth of faith.  Newcomers and visitors are always welcome. Class meets in the Parlor, Room 114.  Coordinators are Emmett Lifsey and Chal Nunn.

THE FAMILY MATTERS CLASS
Our class welcomes adults of all ages and family circumstances to join our Sunday School family.  In the past we have addressed “family matters” such as Christian parenting, marriage and relationships.  We also challenge ourselves to look for God’s guidance, as evidenced in the Bible, in all facets of our lives. This year begins with a discussion series based on topics from “The Thoughtful Christian.” Please join us and become a part of our family. The class meets in the Officers Room, Room 117, and is taught by Andrea Kittrell and Matt Foster.

PASTOR’S CLASS
This Bible study class follows the weekly International Sunday School Lesson (Uniform Series) which strives to acquaint students with texts from both the Old and New Testaments.  Anyone is invited to join the class as we look at the designated text for each Sunday and struggle to find its application for our lives. Topics being studied during the year include: The New Community (Matthew, acts, Epistles), Commitment to the Messiah (Luke 1-3), Old Testament People of Commitment (selected texts), Promise of New Life (Ezekiel, Luke 23-24). The class meets in Fellowship Hall, beside the rear parking lot and is taught by John Scholer.

THE MARTIN-GIFFORD CLASS
The Martin-Gifford Class continues its great tradition of Bible study with one of the most misunderstood and misused books in the Hebrew Scriptures – Genesis. Using a series originated by world-class biblical scholar and master teacher Dr. Mickey Efird and led by class members, we undertake to discover what the stories meant when they were written more than 2000 years ago and how that knowledge gives direction to how they may be applied today. Join us and discover things you’ve never known before. No prior knowledge is necessary. The class meets in Room 119-121, Sanctuary level, overlooking the rear parking lot and the coordinator is David Blue.
