Session

The governing body of a Presbyterian church is the Session. It is composed of the pastor who moderates and the elected elders. This process is central to the Presbyterian Church. We elect rather than appoint our elders to uphold our belief in full congregational participation and follow a tradition of democracy and representative government instead of hierarchy and centralization of power solely with the clergy. The pastor moderates the Session and all elders have an equal vote. The pastor also casts a single vote.
